The Revelstoke Ski Club, based in Revelstoke British Columbia, is proud to be Canada's longest running ski club. Our club is dedicated to the enjoyment, fun and development of alpine skiing in our youth. We are excited to be a part of the expansion of Mount MacKenzie, our home mountain at Revelstoke Mountain Resort. The Revelstoke Ski Club has seen impressive expansion in the past few years with athlete membership encroaching 100 for the 2008-09 season. We welcome new members and encourage families to come out and join the fun.

Congratulations to the RSC for its achievements during the 2008-09 season. Congratulations to all our athletes for an outstanding and fun season. We had many highlights in both the Nancy Greene Ski League and BC Alpine programs along with the club holding successful events. Our annual ski club awards were held at the end of the season with the following athletes recognized:
BC Alpine announced recipients of the 2008/09 Awards and Bursaries at Kelowna's Bohemian Cafe on Friday, May 8th. Congratulations to the following winners:
2009-10 Coaches Announced We are pleased to welcome back Ned Slazarevic and Katie Findlay as head and assistant coaches for our Kinder and FIS programs. Also returning next season will be Christina Lustenberger, who will be assisting on weekends as she travels between Revelstoke and Kamloops while balancing coaching and studying. FIS program
After many absent years the Revelstoke Ski Club will be providing a dedicated coach for our for young skiers in the BC Alpine FIS program. Although this program has been provided in conjunction with our Kinder program the 2009-10 season will be the first in many years where these athletes will be provided an opportunity to train completely with their age peers. Volunteer days We have plans for another busy ski season within all the different programs: Nancy Green and E/K/J/FIS. The Revelstoke Ski Club’s proposed budget for next year is in excess of $110,000. With RSC membership fees providing approximately $30,000 the remaining shortfall is achieved through our fund raising activities, grant applications and races. To fall in line with other Ski Clubs and because of the huge number of volunteers it takes to hold races and to coordinate and run fundraising activities, the RSC will be implementing a volunteer fee for the 09/10 ski season. Helping with club events and fundraising activities will contribute to the volunteer days. The schedule will be as follows:
RSC is more than just a service to teach kids to ski. As a club, we hope to gain participation of the whole family and promote the love of skiing and racing in a fun and fair manner. The above is only a guideline and is the minimum days required per family, it is of course hoped that all families will contribute to the highest level possible for their situation. The implementation of a Volunteer Day policy is an attempt to spread the work around so that we can involve as many people as possible. Policy explanation for the 09/10 ski season:
What qualifies for a volunteer day?
Events include: parades, organized raffle club ticket sales (excludes BC Alpine tickets assigned at the beginning of the season), Homecoming, Glacier Challenge, Ski Swap, Warren Miller Movie, etc and of course races and mountain events. Summer Fundraising To help finance the programs some of our best fund raising opportunities occur during the summer. 2009 Summer Fund Raising Activities: Revelstoke Homecoming: running the beer garden tent on July 24th We need people for:
Please reply to Claude Duchesne our Volunteer Coordinator to volunteer for an event: claudeduchesne@hotmail.com Revelstoke Glacier Challenge: July 31- Aug 3rd. This is a huge event for the club and we need all the help we can get for that weekend. We will need help with campground set up on July 29 and 30 as well as working the 31st to the 3rd. Please contact Sonia Cinelli: scinelli@telus.net if you are able to assist. 'Powder Slug Chair" and Season Pass Raffles: We are going to have several raffles over the summer. They will be for a Season’s Pass (money gets refunded if you have already purchased the pass), and for the old Powder Slug chairs. Chairs will be raffled during the Revelstoke Music Festival (June), the Revelstoke Homecoming (July) and the Glacier Challenge (Aug). RMR season pass raffles will be held during the Glacier Challenge and a second raffle will be held during the fall. This fall we are planning to coordinate an Evening in the Mountains at the Canadian Mountain Holidys Gothic Lodge. Guests will be provided with a gourmet meal, live music and overnight accomodation. Please check this website for future details. Please try to help out with one of these events. Club Cabin? One day we hope to have a Club cabin on the hill. Ideally it would be a place for families to meet, for kids to store ski gear, eat lunches and it would make our life much easier for storage of race equipment as well as a permanent race office. A dream of a Club cabin can only happen with the collective vision of everyone in the club with everyone participating to the extent and capacity that they can. Revelstoke Ski Club Executive |
