RSC GS results at Sun Peaks Dec 15/16th

The Revelstoke Ski Team made an impressive showing at their first GS race in Sun Peaks this past weekend as many of our skiers came home with medals and top ten finishes.  The seventeen member racing team has six new members this year, three skiers who have moved up from the Nancy Greene ranks and three skiers from Salmon Arm.

Alex Wadey and Dominic Unterberger each won gold medals this weekend, assuring them both a spot at the K2 Gold Cup in February.  Lachlan Hicks made the podium in each of his three races with two golds and a silver and Peter Behncke earned himself a gold and silver medal in the K1 division. Shep Howatt also made the podium in all three races this weekend. Ricky McLain brought home a gold in the J1 division, and Erich Unterberger a gold and two silver in the Masters division. 

The Revelstoke ski team is looking forward to training in Revelstoke once Revelstoke Mountain Resort opens this weekend.  Racers from all over the zone are excited about the upcoming races in Revelstoke this season.  The first race will be the Over The Hump race on February 9^th, followed by the Nancy Greene race on February 10^th.  The Kinder races will run the following weekend on February 16^th and 17^th.   The team’s next race will be a slalom race in Big White in January.

Once again the Revelstoke Ski Team came out strong at their first Slalom race in Big White January 19^th and 20^th.  The team had eighteen top ten finishes and brought home seven medals:  two golds, four silvers and one bronze.  The results from this past weekend mean that eight members of the racing team will have the opportunity to represent Revelstoke and Revelstoke Mountain Resort in two upcoming races. 

Emily Unterberger, Peter Behncke, Lachlan Hicks, Cole Smith, Alex Duchesne, and Shep Howitt qualified for the BC Winter Games and Alex Wadey and  Dominic Unterberger qualified for the K2 Gold Cup.   Racers qualified using the results from this Slalom race combined with the results from their GS race in Sun Peaks in December. 

The Nancy Greene skiers are off to Silver Star this coming weekend for their first race of the season and they are looking forward to racing in Revelstoke on February 10^th.  The Kinder races will run at RMR the following weekend on February 16^th and 17^th.   The annual Over The Hump race will be held on February 9^th.  This is a fundraiser for the Revelstoke Racing program and is always a lot of fun for everyone.  Skiers are encouraged to put together teams of four and come out to try racing.
