In the Super G Revelstoke’s Dominic Unterberger won a bronze medal; Peter Behncke placed 7th, Shep Howatt 17th, Eric Schwenck 21st and Brady Roy and Stephanie Landry both 43rd. In the Super Combined Cole Smith placed 26th while his teammates Alex Duchesne and Davis Roy finished 55th and 65th respectively.

Revelstoke did very well in the Slalom race: Delyth Harper finished 40th and Stephanie Landry 56th; Peter Behncke placed fourth, Dominic Unterberger eighth, Brady Roy 58th and Davis Roy 69th.

On Sunday the men’s second Giant Slalom run was cancelled due to heavy snowfall – after posting a fourth and a sixth place, respectively, Dominic Unterberger and Peter Behncke went powder skiing with their teammates. Eric Schwenck finished 26th, Cole Smith 33rd and Alex Duchesne 61st.

“The provincials were fun,” Eric Schwenck said. “I think everyone did pretty well there, and the powder skiing was a great ending to the series.”

Schwenck, Shep Howatt, Cole Smith and Stephanie Landry are now in Jasper for the K2 Western Canadian Championships, while Peter Behncke and Dominic Unterberger are training in preparation for the National Championships taking place at Silver Star next week.

Last weekend the K1 team also competed in their provincial championships at Big White. Friday’s Giant Slalom race came with intense fog and strong winds – delays due to poor visibility meant that only one run could be completed. The Revelstoke athletes did very well: Lachlan Hicks won gold, Emily Unterberger finished ninth, Max Scharf 19th, Mitch Smith 20th and Sonia Schwenck 37th. Rydr Strobl placed 44th, Hannah Yauck 47th and Gina Cinelli 54th.

In the Kombi race Hicks won another gold, Unterberger came tenth, Landon Yauck 33rd and Max Scharf 37th. In the second Kombi race both Hicks and Smith had strong runs but were unfortunately disqualified in the upper stubbie gate section.

On Sunday, two Slalom races capped off the exciting weekend. Hicks won his third gold medal of the weekend, making him the overall provincial champion and securing him a spot on Team Canada at the Whistler Cup – an international race at Whistler over Easter weekend. Landon Yauck posted a 24th place and Mitch Smith a 35th, while Max Scharf placed 41st, Gina Cinelli 56th and Hannah Yauck 57th.

Last week the club’s FIS team travelled to Panorama for a great series – two Giant Slalom and two Slalom races. Though Ricky McLain is out for the remainder of the season with a knee injury, and Richie Smith did not race due to illness, Alex Wadey posted some very strong results and significantly improved his points profile and overall standing. Revelstoke’s Daniella Aberger also scored some excellent finishes: 14th in Giant Slalom and ninth in Slalom.

All the Revelstoke Ski Club athletes are preparing for the Okanagan zone finals – taking place at Revelstoke Mountain Resort April fourth and fifth.

The Revelstoke Ski Club’s K2 Race Team (13- and 14-year-olds) travelled to Red Mountain for the provincial championships March 11–15 and achieved great results amid very tough competition. The top young ski racers in British Columbia raced two Super G races, a Super Combined (one run of Super G combined with one run of Slalom), a GiantSlalom and a Slalom.
