The Revelstoke Ski Club held its year-end party and awards at the Nels Nelsen historic area cabin on Sunday, Apr. 18. Being that the ski club originated in that location more than 100 years ago, it seemed the perfect setting to celebrate the ongoing success of the club.

Awards and achievement reports were given to all of our Nancy Greene-aged athletes.
Club overall awards were presented to the following:

E2 (9/10 year old)

  • Most improved girl: Claudia Cinelli
  • Most improved boy: Olin Mosher

Kinder/Junior (11-15 years-old)

  • Most improved female: Thea Peasgood
  • Most Improved male: Cole Smith

FIS (15 years and older)

  • Most Improved female: Stephanie Landry
  • Most Improved male: Richie Smith
  • Most Sportsmanlike (as voted by fellow club members): Daniella Aberger
  • Most Valuable male athletes (determined by strongest results throughout the season): Peter Behncke
  • Most Valuable female athlete (determined by strongest results throughout the season): Emily Unterberger

The Revelstoke Ski Club had a very busy and productive season. With the help of Revelstoke Mountain Resort we held three separate race weekends, with races for our Nancy Greene skiers all the way up to the K2 Westerns.

We had athletes attend many events throughout the province and across Canada. Some events to note included sending Behncke and Lachlan Hicks to the ACA Rising Stars Camp in November and the K2 Nationals, in Collingwood Ontario.

We sent four skiers to the Whistler Cup Race: K1 athletes Mitch Smith and Max Scharf and K2 athletes Hicks and Behncke.

Erika Park and Aberger were part of the Olympic events as forerunners for the Paralympics. Erika also attended the FIS Nationals. Alex Duchesne was selected to attend the "Cowboy Camp", a traing event put on by Manny Osbourne and Mike Janyk of the Canadian national ski team.

We won the top overall K1 team in the Okanagan zone. Our club members have shown great improvement and strong results under the great coaching of Ned Lazarevic and Katie Findlay. We look forward to their return to our club next season.

We would like to thank all of our coaches and volunteers, your great effort and support is what creates a very successful club.
